Paint Party...

What better way to spend a Wednesday morning at home than to have a paint party. As preschool has started, Awanas, and with different meetings I have at church, we really try to protect Wednesday mornings and have time at home. Mason is my homebody, and loves to be at home! So Wednesday morning means no plans, no running errands, just fun time. Last Wednesday we had a paint party, and had the best time.

 Love both of these smiles...

Our sweet friends Jen, Lincoln, and Maryn walked down and joined us. So fun that they came by and joined in our big mess.

Micah was happy until she got paint all over her hands. She doesn't like dirty hands and found the bucket of water which entertained her the rest of our time outside.
This is one successful paint party in my book...

Lighthouse, Sea Turtles, and a Big Gorilla...

Some fun things we did with the kids besides the beach and eating included a trip to the lighthouse, to see the rescued sea turtles, and to see the "animals". Mason and daddy climbed to the top of the lighthouse while mommy and Micah stayed on the ground to watch. I wasn't feeling well, and the thought of having to carry a child down was enough to keep me on the ground. Craig said Mason got a little scared on the way up, but was fine once they got to the top.

The rescue sea turtles were very neat to see. I think all of them were injured. Both kids really enjoyed it.

On the way back to from the beach, there is this huge store that is quite the attaction. The huge gorilla is definitely a draw as Mason saw it from the car and asked if we could go see it. You have to pay to tour the grounds, while it was well done there are no live animals. I guess we are a little spoiled with trips to the zoo that cost about the same amount of money. It was also really hot, and the mosquitos were awful so we didn't stay out long.

In the store they both got to pick one item. I assumed Mason would pick shark teeth or seashells since we were at the beach. He walked around weighing his options, and he found exactly what he wanted... a toy gun. He and Craig looked for 10 minutes finding the perfect one for him, yes the one that broke in 15 minutes. He was so excited, and devestated when it broke. Needless to say, we made a trip to Walmart for a better one, and we returned it on our way back to the island.

Micah on the other hand knew exactly what she wanted. I was holding her and she wanted down, went straight to a bin of balls, and picked out a pink bouncy ball that glowed, and wouldn't let go of it. Can we say like father like son, like mother like daughter?

South Padre Island...

This year we went to South Padre the week school started for most people. It was absolutely the perfect week to go. It was as if we had the beach to ourselves. It wasn't too hot, no crowds, and just overall a great vacation. We took Mason to Schlitterbaun which was definitely a highlight. My mom watched Micah for us as I am not sure how long she would have made it. He is still talking about it. No picture of Schlitterbaun, but more of our time on the beach. This expression cracks me up...

Micah loved chasing the seagulls. She feed one, and then was soon surrounded. She didn't seem to mind...

Beach Family fun....

This year the kids were at a great age to really enjoy the beach. Mason is old enough to do his own thing, and Micah always stayed close to our area. When Mason was one,  we had to chase him everywhere. This is as close as I got to having them in the same picture...

Mason thought this was so fun...

Beach mommy date...

The beach is heaven on earth for our Mason. We had the chance to go to South Padre for day for a mommy date while GiGi watched Micah. Mason just loves it, as the pictures say it all. We had such a great day together and I enjoyed the time to be able to love on him.

On a side note, soon after this is when Micah went into the hospital and he asked if Micah and I were going on a mommy date to the hospital. I guess we did, but wish it was much more fun than that!
